If you would like to backup your Quik! Forms Library
user data, follow the instructions below.
The files that you will back up include your rep information, form group
information and system settings. Backing up your files is recommended before
uninstalling Quik! or upgrading to a new version, though upgrading will usually
back up your files for you.
-
Find where you installed Quik!... Using your Windows
Explorer, search for the folder that contains the quik.exe file. The default
location is "C:\Program Files\Quik Forms Library\".
-
Open the System folder... Within the same folder as
quik.exe is a System folder (default "C:\Program Files\Quik Forms
Library\System\"). There are nine files you may want to backup:
- afapp.ini
- afapp.bak
- dflpdb.afb
- grpdat.afb
- quik.eti
- setpdb.afb
- uridta.afb
- urnodta.afb
In addition, one other file can be found in the Download folder (default
"C:\Program Files\Quik Forms Library\Download\"):
- UpdateFile.txt
-
Copy these files to Archive... Within the same folder as
the quik.exe is another folder called Archive (default "C:\Program Files\Quik
Forms Library\Archive\"). Copy each of the files listed above to this folder as
a backup. To copy files, simply select each file, and choose Copy from the Edit
menu. To place these files in the Archive folder, select the Archive folder and
choose Paste from the Edit menu.
-
Finish... With your files backed up, you can continue
using Quik!, installing a new version or uninstalling Quik!.
-
Restoring Files... If you need to restore these files,
simply follow these directions in reverse - copy your files from the Archive
folder and paste them into your System and Download folder (make sure each file
goes in it's original location).
